The
Cottage is situated between The Masons Arms (Devon Dining
Pub of the Year 2004 ) and The Fountain Head Pub, which serve
food and real ale. Both of these pubs are within walking distance.
The fishing village of Beer is a short car ride where angling
trips on local boats are available. For the more energetic-there
are many footpaths-the coastal path with spectacular views
is a sort walk from the cottage.
Country House adjoins Country Cottage
and has been completely refurbished. It has one double bedroom
with original beams and stone wall with ensuite shower room.
One twin bedded room also with ensuite shower room. Both rooms
have T.V. and DVD players with access to a picturesque patio.
We also have one single room with a bath ensuite.
Both rooms are on the top floor of
Country House and because of it's unusual design these rooms
are adjacent to the patio. In nice weather it is possible
to sit here and enjoy your early morning drink or afternoon
tea.
The
land behind the house is our "Nature Reserve" .
It is a four acre field set on the side of the hill which
we endeavor to manage as naturally as possible and where we
encourage birds, butterflies, badgers, foxes and deer.
We feel strongly in the natural ethos
so we use as much organically produced local produce as possible,
free range eggs and homemade bread.
With regard to local hostelry-we
are well served by The Masons Arms (Devon Dining Pub of the
year 2004) and the Fountain Head pub-serving locally brewed
beer which is very popular with our visitors.
Both these pubs are within walking
distance.
Branscombe is set in a valley and
therefore tends to have it's own micro climate. It can be
warmer and sunnier than other parts especially in the spring.
Surrounded by sea and countryside
but still within short traveling distance of local towns,
swimming pools, golf courses and riding stables.
Branscombe is secluded but not remote,
and of course we couldn't leave out the donkeys!
Close by is Sidmouth Donkey Sanctuary
where it is possible to visit donkeys of all ages, colours
and sizes enjoying much love and care in wonderful surroundings.
