Branscombe is a picturesque village
on the Jurassic Coast, which is now a world heritage Site.
A 15-minute walk (passing
12th century St Winifreds Church, a thatched Smithy dating
from Norman times and The Great Seaside Farm dating back
to the 14th century) will bring you to the beach. There
you will find a thatched licensed restaurant, which has
some tables outside.
There is a local bus
service, which goes to Sidmouth/Beer. There is also the
Jurassic Coast coach (X53), which goes from Exeter to Wareham
Dorset, which picks up passengers from local points throughout
the day.
Country
cottage was built in the 19th century. It has been completely
refurbished to reveal some of its original features. It comprises
of a lounge with TV.-Video and DVD player, storage heater
and electric log effect heater. The bathroom has a bath with
shower over and small wash/machine. On the top floor is an
open plan bedroom with double bed. Stairs lead down to a fitted
kitchen with butler sink and small breakfast table, on the
bottom floor is a single bedroom.
Outside is a small terraced garden with
table and chairs and views over the country side.
The
land behind the house is our "Nature Reserve" .
It is a four acre field set on the side of the hill which
we endeavor to manage as naturally as possible and where we
encourage birds, butterflies, badgers, foxes and deer.
We feel strongly in the natural ethos so
we use as much organically produced local produce as possible,
free range eggs and homemade bread.
